Who Knew Old People Like Face Paint?

This week I attended my first Portland Timbers’ MLS game. I’ve blogged about some of the Timbers’ marketing initiatives previously, so I was excited to see the team’s in game and concourse promotional efforts. For the next few Wednesdays I will be writing about some of my favorites.

I can’t remember ever being a fan of face paint, even as a little kid, but evidently the people of Portland LOVE it. An hour before the start of the match more than 50 people were in line to get their faces decorated. What I found most intriguing was that not only kids but moms, dads and even a few grandparents were getting their faces painted. If your team has a rabid fan base, offering a pre-game free face painting station may be a good idea.
