Dr. Evil Would Be Proud

The most out-of-the-box and downright cool marketing effort around Scottsdale during the BCS Championship game was Nike’s use of lasers to brand objects, you know objects like buildings and a mountain located two miles in the distance. Obviously this is not a small budget idea but if your company or team has the budget, I highly recommend it. The buzz about the laser show around town was significant. The placements were spot on. The mountain was obviously viewable from all over and one of the building locations was at the end of the busiest bar street in Old Scottsdale. I didn’t see the image that was reportedly projected on Jobbing Arena but it can be seen in the Youtube video below. For information about how the laser show brought to you by Nike, Wieden + Kennedy, SportsOne, Inc., Lightwave International, and MacDonald Media became a reality, check out this Oregonian article.
