And The Oscar Goes To...

This past week I was in New York City and passed a noteworthy advertisement for the upcoming Oscars on ABC. ABC had built into a building two touchscreen monitors where a passerby could stop and take a picture of him or herself holding a digital Oscar. Once the picture was captured the user could then email, Tweet or Facebook the photo. While this is obviously not cheap, the mix of intrigue in a heavy traffic location, technology and social networking was quite effective. There was a steady stream of screen traffic for the ten minutes I stood by and watched the display. Below is a sample of the email sent by the “Virtual Oscar” along with a picture of the street scene.
