Closed Captioning

I suppose it is possible that I’ve seen closed captioning at an event before but I’ve never taken notice. As I mentioned last week the Phillies spent $10 million this offseason on a new 7,327 sq. foot HD scoreboard. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the bottom of the screen is dedicated to close captioning all that the PA announcer in Citizen’s Bank Park says to the stadium. I imagine that this courtesy is most appreciated by any hard of hearing Phillies fans. Additionally as a person who is very thankful to have her hearing, I enjoyed having a second opportunity to read something I may have missed the announcer say. This simple, helpful and thoughtful addition to the Phillies game day experience is something that every team or school who runs a video board should seriously consider implementing.
