Mighty Mightes

I mentioned in last week's post that I recently attended a Flyers game. During the second intermission the “Mighty Mightes” played a five minute exhibition game. Watching little kids play on the professional’s ice is always a blast. They look so small, slow and confused. In this particular group of kids there was one player who literally NEVER moved. The puck went virtually straight to him and he just stood there. When the game concluded the coach had to run out on the ice and pick the kid up to remove him. Even the grouchy Philly fans were howling over this. Inviting area youth sports teams to play at your games makes for cheap and relatively easy stoppage in play entertainment. It is also perceived as a goodwill gesture on the part of the team towards the community, which as everyone in marketing knows, is never a bad thing.
