Pilot Pit Stops

I was on the freeway a lot this last week. When I’m driving one of my favorite pit stops is Pilot. I usually run in, go to the restroom and buy a 32oz fountain Diet Dr. Pepper. As anyone who regularly reads my writings knows, I am huge fan of bathroom advertising. This last week’s worth of stops reinforced why.

The back of all stall doors in the women’s restroom at the Pilot show an advertisement listing the store specials for the week. All four times I frequented the bathroom this week there were groups of girls (ages 18-30) reading the ads to each other across stalls. Two of the four times they were remarking on how they were going to become a fan of Pilot on Facebook to get the free offering, which in the picture below is any hot beverage.

If you’ve never considered bathroom stall advertising, you should. Bathroom stalls are the definition of a captive audience. If my experiences at the Pilot are any indication, I am not the only one who finds this medium noteworthy.
