The Worst Team in Basketball

The NBA’s New Jersey Nets have been in the headlines a lot this year for their terrible on-court play (they currently have six wins). When the on-court product is that bad, especially on the elite level, it can be challenging to get fans in the seats. Tomorrow night the Nets will try something I can’t recall another franchise doing. All New Jersey residents 18 and older in attendance will receive a coupon redeemable at a Roni Deutch Tax Center for a free state income tax preparation. Additionally representatives of Roni Deutch will be at the game to answer tax-related questions. It will be interesting to see if a coupon with a $29 value will be enough of an incentive to get fans out to watch potentially the worst team in NBA history.
Below is a Bloomberg News story on the Nets' attendance woes and what it takes to get fans in the seats to watch an undeniably terrible product.
