Where Are My Shoes?

There are times when games at an event are more about increasing the fun of the attendees than increasing the bottom line. The UO recently debuted a promotion at one of its basketball games that I thought was quite good and remarkably simple. The marketing staff recruited five kids from the stands to participate. They took each kids’ shoes and spread them out around the court while the kids’ backs were turned while standing on the baseline. Each kid was given a basketball. The kids were then told to turn around, dribble to their shoes, which of course they had to find, put them on and then proceed to the opposite end of the court and make a shot. The first person to score won a small token prize. This game was both entertaining to watch and clearly made the night of the kids that got to participate.
