What Will The Ducks Wear?

The University of Oregon’s uniforms don’t exactly fall in the “in-game” event/marketing category but they do produce a surprising amount of value for the athletic department at Oregon. Value is created through media discussion about the uniforms, product sales, and increased interest by both student-athletes and general students.
A perfect example of value being created through media discussions about the Oregon uniforms took place this week as the social networking universe was aflutter with the announcement of the uniforms that Oregon will wear in the the BCS Championship game on January 10th. Nike held a special presentation at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, TX releasing its bowl uniforms for not only the Ducks but Boise St., TCU and Florida as well. I for one think my boys will be looking pretty good in the big game and I look forward to seeing the revenue numbers related to yet another set uniforms.
