Put Your Hands Up in the Air

The University of Oregon is in uncharted territory. We (I say we because I am a Duck a through and through... born in Eugene and have two degrees from the UO) are one win in the Civil War away from playing for our first BCS National Championship. In honor of our incredible season I am going to spend the month of December discussing some of my favorite, and not so favorite, in game marketing efforts from the UO marketing department.

This season at home football games the Ducks have a “fist pump cam”. This is just like a kiss cam but instead “Put Your Hands Up in the Air” by Danzel is blared over the PA system as the jumbotron camera pans the crowd for fans wildly pumping their fists. The promotion is a little too “Jersey Shore” for me but I will concede that at least 35% of the stadium likes it.
